When Jesus goes missing

The Easter story begins empty....empty disciples hiding behind a locked door, scared and on the look out for the Roman authorities; sans for a jar of anoninting oil, the women who journey to the tomb are empty of heart. And, of course, the biggest empty of the day, the one upon which the whole story turns....the empty tomb.
There is no body found there. No body to anoint. Understandably, the women figure someone stole the body, desecrated the tomb.

What do you do when Jesus goes missing?
You run away.
You are angry.
You weep.
You close in upon yourself.
You become small.

Mary Magdalene goes looking and seeking.  She asks others if they know.

In one of the great scenes in the entire Gospel narrative, she comes upon a gardener and asks him if he has seen the body of Jesus and if he knows to please tell her. In this familiar story, whom Mary assumes to be the gardner is actually the Risen Jesus and when he calls her by name, "Mary," she recognizes him.  Jesus is alive!

I'm one who is prone to lose things....keys, notebooks, pens, ballcaps....
Whenever you lose someting, you ask another, "Have you seen_____?" That person's response is most often, "Where did you last have it? Where did you last see it?"

When Jesus goes missing, I ask the same question of us:

When did you last see Jesus?

Spend some time today reflecting and looking and answering..........
